LAS VEGAS — As the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers made their way to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, millions are making their preparations for the big game on Sunday. 

While some are headed to Sin City to take part in the festivities, others are stocking up on items for a Super Bowl party. 

From the price of a ticket to the game to how many chicken wings will be eaten on Sunday, here's the Super Bowl by the numbers, according to WalletHub.

Super Bowl economics

This will be the first time that Las Vegas or Nevada has ever hosted the Super Bowl. It is estimated to generate $1.1 billion in economic impact for the local economy.

The projected average amount spent by a Super Bowl tourist in Las Vegas on food and drinks over four days is $275. 

While 71,835 fans are expected at Allegiant Stadium for the game, many more still make the trip for the festivities leading up to Sunday. There are an estimated 156,000 hotel rooms available in Las Vegas.

Ticket prices

It's no secret that it can break the bank if you want to attend the Super Bowl and it only gets more expensive each year. 

The lowest price of a Super Bowl ticket LVIII ticket on the resale market right after the conference championships was $8,586. The average price right now on the resale market is $10,752. 

The average price of a ticket to the last five Super Bowls is $6,680. The highest price ever paid for a Super Bowl ticket? A whopping $40,000. 

Super Bowl party

The Super Bowl will bring millions together, even if you're not a fan of football. 

An estimated 112.2 million Americans plan to throw a party or attend a party on Sunday. Meanwhile, 16.2 million Americans plan to watch the game at a bar or restaurant. 

Food and drink

The top three most popular Super Bowl foods are chips and dip, chicken wings and pizza. 

It is estimated that 1.45 billion wings will be eaten, 10 million pounds of ribs will be sold the week of Super Bowl and 11.3 million pounds of potato chips will be eaten. There's also a 35% increase in pizza sales on Super Bowl Sunday as opposed to a regular Sunday.

To wash down all the food, Americans are estimated to purchase 50 million cases of beer on Super Bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl ads and commercials

Some people tune into the Super Bowl just for the commercials. A 30-second ad during this year's game is estimated to cost $7 million. 

Fox's ad revenue from last year's Super Bowl reached over $600 million. The total ad time last year was 38 minutes, 45 seconds.

Viewership and media coverage

Last year, the Super Bowl received its largest viewership ever with 115.1 million people tuning into the game. 

Journalists are also making their plans to cover the Super Bowl. Over 6000 journalists are expected to cover the game. For reference, just 338 journalists covered the first-ever Super Bowl in 1967.

Sports betting

Over 50 million Americans are likely to bet on the Super Bowl and it is estimated that $1.3 billion alone will be legally wagered for the game. 

There is a $1 million bet at Caesars in Michigan for the 49ers to beat the Chiefs on Sunday. The bet would win $833,333.
