CLEVELAND — Is putting Bertman's Ballpark Mustard on a pizza the most out-of-pocket thing I have ever done? Potentially. Does it work? ABSOLUTELY.
Don't knock it until you've tried this Cleveland-inspired pizza created by 3News' Austin Love, which is perfect for Super Bowl Sunday.
What you'll need:
- Pizza dough
- Kielbasa
- Bertman Ballpark Mustard
- Sauerkraut
- Red onion
- Swiss cheese
- Cheddar cheese
- 1000 Island Dressing
First, get prepped. Dice your kielbasa into bite-size pieces and give them a quick sear on the stove. Next, julienne half of the red onion and sear those as well. Make sure you don't cook them too long so they become soggy, just enough to where they still have a bite and aren't raw on the pizza. Finally, take that sauerkraut and put it on a paper towel to dry it off.
Now you're ready to assemble.
Lay out your pizza dough and spread out an even layer of ballpark mustard. To help thin it out, I like to mix it with a little olive oil. Once that is spread out, layer it with your cheese mixture, top that with your kielbasa, red onion, sauerkraut, and finally a drizzle of 1000 Island dressing.
For cooking, if you have a pizza oven GREAT. Turn it up to about 600 degrees and cook it for about 5-6 minutes.
If you don't, no worries! Grab a good pizza stone, put it in the oven, and turn it as hot as you can (typically 500 degrees). Cook until the cheese is melted, the bottom is crispy, and the crust is golden.
Does it get any more Cleveland than this?? Cheers!
