Northeast Ohio’s Jason Kokrak embracing local support, set to play in U.S. Open at Brookline in June and The Open at St. Andrews in July

3News Sports Anchor Nick Camino goes one-on-one with PGA golfer and Hudson resident Jason Kokrak.

HUDSON, Ohio — Jason Kokrak calls himself just a normal guy. He went to high school at Warren JFK High School outside of Youngstown, lives in Hudson and considers himself a diehard Browns, Cavs and Guardians fan.

Kokrak is being respectfully humble when it comes to talking about his golf game. The 37-year-old is playing the best golf of his career right now. Ranked this year as high as No. 20 in the world and owning three career victories on the PGA Tour, as well as having Top 20 finishes at The Masters, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship.

3News Sports Anchor Nick Camino recently got an opportunity to go one-on-one with Kokrak as he prepared to defend his title at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Camino and Kokrak talked about living in Northeast Ohio, his love for Cleveland sports, a late rise in Kokrak’s career, as well as competing in two upcoming PGA Tour events. He will play in the  U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts and The Open Championship which celebrates its 150th Anniversary this July at St. Andrews.

Kokrak, who spent ten years on the PGA Tour before winning a tournament, credits his team, his family life and his caddie for his recent success. He also has a new partnership with Planet Fitness.

Kokrak and Camino also discussed the LIV Golf Series which makes its debut June 9-11 at the Centurion Golf Club in London and other golf tournaments such as the Memorial in Columbus.  The Hudson resident also has an idea to get all four Major winners from the calendar year together to play a foursome, 18 holes for $20 million, winner-take-all tournament.
