It was another busy night at the winter Olympics, as one American sporting hero found redemption.
Shaun White won his third career gold medal in the men's snowboarding halfpipe, recovering from a medal-less performance in Sochi in what might be the final Olympics of his great career.
The short program for pairs figure skating also took place, with Chinese duo Wenjing Sui and Cong Han currently in the lead.

11:58 p.m. - Phelps shouts out White
Following his gold medal performance, Shaun White got a special shout out on Twitter from perhaps the greatest Olympian of all-time: American swimmer Michael Phelps.
White was extremely emotional after the victory, collapsing into his parents' arms near the finish line.
11:44 p.m. - Chinese pair leads after short program
The Chinese duo of Wenjing Sui and Cong Han sits in first place following the pairs figure skating short program, posting a score of 82.39
However, the Russian team of Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov is not far behind, trailing by less than a point.
The free skate takes place tomorrow night. Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Kmierim sit far behind in 14th, although they did qualify for the long program.
10:34 p.m. - Figure skating update
The pairs figure skating short program is taking place right now, and all eyes were on the team of Tae Ok Ryom and Ju Sik Kim, who made history by coming from their native North Korea to compete in the South. They received a very warm reception from the crowd, and are currently in third place.
For the United States, Alexa Scimeca Knierim's and Chris Kmierim's score of 65.55 wasn't stellar, but their performance was still special, especially on Valentine's Day.

10:06 p.m. - White fights back, takes third gold medal
Shaun White has cemented his legacy as the greatest snowboarder in Olympic history, throwing down a 97.75 with back-to-back 1440s to win his third gold in men's halfpipe.
It could very well be the final Olympics of the 31-year-old's career.
9:41 p.m. - Women's slalom postponed
Due to continuing poor weather conditions, the women's skiing slalom has been postponed until tomorrow, meaning defending gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin will have to wait one more day.
9:31 p.m. - White stumbles in second run, slips to second
We have a new leader in men's halfpipe, after Japan's Ayumu Hirano recovered from a poor start to post a score of 95.25 with back-to-back 1440s.
Shaun White fell down towards the end of his second run. He will have one more chance to get to the top of the podium.

9:17 p.m. - Japanese snowboarder carted off
There was a scary moment shortly after the start of the second round of the men's halfpipe finals, when Yuto Totsuka of Japan took a nasty hit off the side of the course and had to be carted off by medical crews.
9:03 p.m. - Team USA going for 100th gold
Should the United States win a gold medal tonight, it will be their 100th gold medal in Winter Olympics history.
8:55 p.m. - White starts strong, shoots to first
Shaun White just threw the hammer down on his first run of the men's halfpipe finals, complete with a double-1260 to earn a score of 94.25
The two-time gold medalist is currently in first place, but Australia's Scotty James is not far behind at 92.00

8:35 p.m. - Dutch win another gold in speed skating
The Netherlands continues to dominate speed skating, with Kjeld Nuis taking gold in the men's 1,500m. His teammate Patrick Roest won silver, while South Korean Kim Min Seok earned the bronze.
Joey Mantia finished eighth, the best American performance.
8:12 p.m. - White battles in air hockey
Prior to tonight's halfpipe final, Julia Mancuso sits down with Shaun White to discuss what motivated him to return to snowboarding after an underwhelming performance in Sochi. The two also battle it out in an intense game of air hockey.
