Just days after finishing fourth in the men’s snowboard slopestyle finals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Rocky River native Red Gerard was back in action for the men's snowboard big air competition early Monday morning.
Gerard finished third in the qualification round with a combined score 158.75 in his top two attempts, including a high of 80.00 on his second run. All three of Gerrard's rides down the slope were clean, and he put himself in prime position for a possible medal during Tuesday's finals, which you can watch HERE beginning at 12:45 a.m.
Gerard narrowly missed a spot on the podium during the slopestyle competition earlier in the Beijing Olympics after winning the event four years ago. The gold medal in that battle went to Max Parrot of Canada, who qualified first in big air with a 164.75 score.
Gerard, who now lives in Silverthorne, Colo., first started snowboarding at the age of 2, according to his bio on TeamUSA.org. He won a gold medal four years ago in the Pyeongchang Olympics during the men's snowboard slopestyle event.
