BEIJING, China — Rocky River native Red Gerard is on the hunt for another medal as he competes in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He’s competing in two different events this year – the first of which takes place this weekend.
Gerard competed in his first official run in the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Qualification Saturday evening, which he advanced through. You can watch his Saturday night performance HERE.
The medals will be up for grabs late Sunday night as the final run begins shortly before midnight.
This is the same event the 21-year-old claimed a gold medal for during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Gerard, who now lives in Silverthorne, Colo., first started snowboarding at the age of 2, according to his bio on TeamUSA.org.
He will also compete in Men’s Snowboard Big Air with the qualification round on Monday, Feb. 14 at 12:30 a.m. EST. The finals for Big Air will take place early Tuesday morning with the medal round set for 12:45 a.m. EST.
