Ohio State Football player, Haskell Garrett, injured in Columbus shooting

Garrett was taken to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in stable condition and is expected to recover.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus Police are investigating a shooting that injured an Ohio State football player early Sunday morning. 

Officials responded to the 400 block of Chittenden Avenue for a reported shooting just before 12:30 a.m. 

At the scene, police found blood in the street and a shell casing near the blood. The trail of blood led officers to an apartment on East 11th Street where they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound. 

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Haskell Garret, defensive tackle for the Buckeyes. 

Suffering a "through and through" gunshot wound to the face, Garrett was taken to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in stable condition and is expected to recover.
