Pan-American Masters Games 2024 in Cleveland: What you need to know

Athletes from more than 50 countries are in Northeast Ohio to compete for medals in 24 sports.

CLEVELAND — The 2024 Pan-American Masters Games have come to Cleveland this summer, with athletes from more than 50 countries competing for medals in 24 sports and events taking place across Northeast Ohio over the next two weekends. 

Featuring thousands of athletes above the age of 30, with some contestants as old as 100, organizers say this summer's Pan-American Masters are expected to be the largest international gathering in Cleveland’s history.

The games promote friendly competition and "perseverance, vigor, health and vitality at any stage of life," organizers state on the event's website. All competitions are free to attend for spectators.

Here's what you should know about each sport's schedule and venue location, as well as parking, road closures and more.

DETAILED DAILY SCHEDULE

PARKING, ROAD CLOSURES

Saturday, July 13

Lakeside Avenue will be closed between Ontario Street and E. 6th Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. to accommodate the Welcome Celebration.

Sunday, July 14

Cleveland Memorial Shoreway will be closed westbound and eastbound from West Boulevard/Lake Avenue to Dead Man’s Curve from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the triathlon. 

After 5 a.m., access to Edgewater Park will be available only via W. 73rd Street.

July 14 & Monday, July 15

Parking will be prohibited along Wade Oval in Cleveland from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tuesday, July 16

Valley Parkway between Mastick/Puritas and Barrett Road in Fairview will be closed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the cycling time trial competition. Access to South Mastic Picnic area will be limited to athletes and volunteers at Mastick/Puritas Road. Guests who arrive after 8 a.m. are asked to park north of Puritas and ride the all-purpose trail to access the start/finish area. 

July 16 & Wednesday, July 17

The Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation will be closed overnight from July 16 to 5 p.m. on July 17.

The following roads will also be closed: 

  • Meadows Dr. between Chippewa Creek and Valley Pkwy. 
  • Valley Pkwy. between Meadows Dr. and Chippewa Creek 
  • Chippewa Creek between Meadows Dr. and Valley Pkwy.

Athlete and spectator parking is available at the Station Road Bridge parking lot, located at 9141 Riverview Road in Brecksville, or along Chippewa Creek Road. 

Athletes will need to ride along the all-purpose trail from the parking locations to access the start/finish location. 

Thursday, July 18


Gorge Parkway in Bedford will be closed from 8 a.m. Parking will be available at the Egbert Picnic area.

Sunday, July 21

Lakeside Avenue between Ontario Street and E. 6th Street in Cleveland will be closed from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rolling closures throughout downtown Cleveland will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to accommodate the half marathon, 10K and 5K.
