COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Crew will visit the White House this week to celebrate winning the MLS Cup last season.
The Black and Gold will be in Washington D.C. on Friday for a ceremony recognizing their 2-1 win over Los Angeles in December 2023 to secure the MLS Cup. It’s the club’s third league title and second in the past four years.
“The Columbus Crew are honored to participate in the special American tradition of celebrating our most recent league championship with the White House,” said Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Haslam Sports Group CEO and Chairman/Managing and Principal Partners. “Our Club, players and staff fully appreciate the unique opportunities we have to represent our supporters, the City of Columbus, Major League Soccer and our sport throughout the world, including through this memorable event.”
Friday’s ceremony will be streamed on the White House YouTube channel.
This will be the club’s second official visit to the White House. They were hosted in 2009 for a championship ceremony after claiming their first MLS Cup in 2008.
The Black and Gold’s trip to the White House on Friday aligns with their upcoming road match at D.C. United. Kickoff starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
