Tennis in the Land player field includes former Australian Open champion, current No. 2 doubles player

15 of the 22 players announced to be participating competed at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

CLEVELAND — The player field for Cleveland's upcoming Women's Tennis Association 250-level tournament features the winners of a combined 27 WTA titles, including the world's second-ranked doubles player and the 2020 Australian Open singles champion. 

Tennis in the Land organizers on Thursday announced the 22-player field of players who will compete for the title and 250 ranking points.

Leading the field are two top-25 players: world No. 13 Liudmila Samsonova of Russia and No. 24 Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the latter 2021 US Open finalist. American and 2020 Aussie Open winner Sofia Kenin is also in the draw, as is fellow American 22-year-old Peyton Stearns, who reached the round of 16 at last year's US Open. 

Also coming to Cleveland are two players who are ranked in the top five in the world doubles rankings: Czech Katerina Siniakova (No. 2) and German Laura Siegemund.

The field will expand, as wild-cards have yet to be announced. Fifteen of the 22 players named in the initial draw are participating in this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

Qualifying for Tennis in the Land will begin at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica on Aug. 17. The first round will begin with a morning session on Monday, Aug. 19, culminating in the finals on Saturday, Aug. 24. Tickets can be purchased here
