EUCLID, Ohio — Many have long awaited the return of UFC champion, Stipe Miocic. And according to the fighter, his return is on the way.
On Sunday, Miocic took to social media posting a photo of himself walking towards a camera surrounded by a crowd of onlookers with the caption, " The time has come. Who’s ready!?"
Miocic has been under intense scrutiny since recapturing the UFC Heavyweight Championship from Daniel Cormier last August. Many, including Cormier have pushed for a third fight between the living MMA legends. But almost a year after Miocic's knockout victory at UFC 241, a date for such fight has yet to be set.
And its status only became cloudier last month, when UFC president Dana White reiterated that the Euclid native could be stripped of his championship should be he fail to defend it in a timely fashion.
Miocic, un-phased, reiterated that he has every intention of defending his title. However, given the global pandemic and his role as a father and first responder, the timing simply wasn't right.
As much of the country has begun reopening, it appears things have realigned for the champ. According to Miocic, the time has come and it suggests UFC fans will finally get to witness the rematch they were hoping for all along.
