USFL games in Canton to start Sunday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium

Canton is playing host to the Pittsburgh Maulers and New Jersey Generals for the 2023 USFL season.

CANTON, Ohio — It is kickoff weekend in Canton! 

The first games of the 2023 USFL season being played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium are set to get underway on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Maulers and New Jersey Generals will take the field for a 1 p.m. contest, followed by the Michigan Panthers and Philadelphia Stars playing at 7 p.m. 

Ahead of the 1 p.m. kickoff, the first 2,000 fans will receive USFL rally towels and t-shirts, while the first 500 fans will receive thundersticks. The first 2,000 fans attending the 7 p.m. game will also receive rally towels and the first 500 will get given thundersticks. 

During the regular season, Canton, which is one of four USFL host cities, will be the home to the Maulers and Generals.

Over the course of six weeks, 11 USFL games will be played in Canton in addition to the North Division Playoff Game in late June and USFL Championship Game in early July. 

Prior to the game, the Hall of Fame Village is hosting a Kick-Off Block Party at Play Action Plaza with festivities taking place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.

The event will include drink specials, food trucks, live music, giveaways, games and inflatables. Visitors will also be able to ride on either the Forward Pass Zipline and the Red Zone ferris wheel.

  • WEEK 2 - Sunday, April 23 

    • New Jersey at Pittsburgh, 12 p.m.

    • Michigan at Philadelphia, 7 p.m.

  • WEEK 4 - Sunday, May 7

    • New Orleans at New Jersey, 3 p.m.

    • Birmingham at Pittsburgh, 6:30 p.m.

  • WEEK 7 

    • Saturday, May 27: Philadelphia at Pittsburgh, 9 p.m.

    • Sunday, May 28: Michigan at New Jersey, 5:30 p.m.

  • WEEK 8 

    • Saturday, June 3: Houston at Pittsburgh,12 p.m.

    • Sunday, June 4: Memphis at New Jersey, 1 p.m.

  • WEEK 9

    • Saturday, June 10: Michigan at Pittsburgh, 12 p.m.

    • Sunday, June 11: Philadelphia at New Jersey, 7 p.m.

  • WEEK 10 - Saturday, June 17
    Pittsburgh at New Jersey, 1 p.m.

  • Championship Game - TBD

Last season, the USFL finished its inaugural season at the Pro Football Hall of Fame with the Birmingham Stallions winning the championship after knocking off the Philadelphia Stars 30-33.
