When the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics 121-99 in February, newly acquired Cleveland guard Jordan Clarkson made a big show of his new 3-point celebration.
Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, apparently, didn't regret.
After sinking a 3-point shot over J.R. Smith in the second quarter of the Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 matchup between the Cavs and Celtics on Sunday, Tatum broke out a familiar gesture. Making a circle with one hand while pointing to his other arm, Tatum re-enacted what has since become Clarkson's signature celebration.
It was the kind of half for the Cavs, who surrendered a 17-0 run to Boston in the opening quarter. In the second quarter, the Celtics continued to pour it on and now take a 61-35 lead into the locker room for halftime.
Tatum, who entered Game 1 having scored at least 20 points in seven straight games, has been a big part of that. In 21 minutes of action, the rookie forward has tallied 9 points and pulled down 3 rebounds.
The Cavs, meanwhile, have struggled on both ends of the floor, with LeBron James having scored just 7 points on 3-of-8 shooting. Perhaps most problematically for Cleveland, the Cavs have missed all 12 of their own 3-point attempts.
