DES MOINES, Iowa — Indiana Fever rookie phenom Caitlin Clark on Wednesday elaborated on her decision to like an Instagram post from pop singer Taylor Swift that endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Swift's post supporting the Democratic ticket of Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said in part, "I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make."

When questioned about the social media moment before the Fever's game against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark stayed away from a political endorsement as she encouraged people to register to vote and educate themselves on the candidates and policies at hand this November.

"I have this amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing would be just encourage people to register to vote," the former Hawkeye said. "I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates we have, the policies they're supporting. I think that's the biggest thing you can do, and that's what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country."

Clark and the Fever are 19-18 after the team's Wednesday night 86-75 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, which has the team sitting sixth in the WNBA standings after clinching a playoff spot last week. After just three more regular season games, the team will be making its first playoff appearance since 2016.
