'Tis the season for porch pirates.

They scope out your front porch for packages recently delivered. They'll swipe them, despite not knowing what's inside.

In this case, the joke's on them.

Former NASA engineer and YouTube personality Mark Rober decided to fight back against porch pirates. According to his YouTube bio, Rober has a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He spent nine years working for NASA and now works at a San Francisco area tech company.

In other words, Rober knows how to build a thing or two. This time, he built a miraculous contraption to fend off porch pirates.

Rober created a circuit board that uses GPS signals to determine if the package has been moved from the porch. If so, it sends a signal to attached phones to begin recording the thief's reaction upon opening the package.

Rober also rigged the contraption to douse the thief in fart spray and glitter.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube page Monday, Rober showed how he sketched and designed the contraption.

"I mean, who doesn't love glitter?" he mused.
