WKYC to air 'Inside Artemis: To the Moon and Beyond' special with 3News' Betsy Kling at 7:30 p.m. tonight

Artemis is NASA's program to return astronauts to the moon by 2024, paving the way for human missions to Mars.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Fifty years after the last Apollo mission, NASA is returning to the moon...

The Artemis I rocket launch is going to be a moment for the history books -- and 3News will be in Florida to present special coverage of the epic mission.

As part of our coverage, WKYC Studios will present "Inside Artemis," a 30-minute special hosted by 3News' Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29.

Our special comes just hours after the Artemis I mission is scheduled to take off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral at 8:33 a.m. Monday.

This launch is the first in a series of increasingly intricate missions that will culminate with a manned moon landing scheduled for 2025. It marks the integration of the most powerful rocket in the world, a new human space capsule and all the infrastructure back here on earth to make it a success.

NASA built this mission on a solid foundation of know-how, to get more power, more technology and more capability to propel us farther from earth an ever before.

Kling and 3News' photojournalist Chris Blake will be at Cape Canaveral for the launch, providing reports starting Sunday morning and throughout the day Monday, culminating with their "Inside Artemis" special at 7:30 p.m. that will contain exclusive content on the mission, those involved and NASA's next mission.
