CLEVELAND — With all of the recent attention balloons and unidentified objects in the sky have gotten, you can understand why what some Northeast Ohioans saw Sunday evening may have been unsettling.
However, what those in Northeast Ohio saw in the night skies was the newest set of SpaceX satellites passing over the region.
Jay Reynolds, Research Astronomer at Cleveland State University, spoke with 3News about the satellites.
Reynolds said, "We had a pass of a group of satellites called Starlink. We've seen these before, but not quite like we've seen tonight. We were able to see them quite well. We may see them again but it's hard to say."
It all came together perfectly as the skies have been clear over the last few nights. The position in the sky as well as the clear skies made for a striking view.
Reynolds was also asked about the recent rash of balloons and unidentified objects being shot down in North America over the last week.
"I'm a little surprised that they [government] haven't been proactive about this. This is not the first time, not at all, that balloons have done incursion flights. They have no choice but to reveal some of this information. Goodness knows how many of these in the past have been flying over."
