CLEVELAND — Construction projects including the ongoing Akron Beltway reconstruction project will affect traffic patterns on highways in Summit County in the week ahead, the Ohio Department of Transportation says.
On Thursday, ODOT released a list of new impacts and changes from the construction that will be in effect this week.
ODOT notes that all planned construction is weather permitting.
Here's what you need to know about the traffic changes:
Ramp from Carroll Street to SR 8 southbound
The ramp from Carroll Street to State Route 8 southbound will be closed from 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 through Monday at 5 a.m. A detour will be posted.
SR 8/I-77 southbound at Central Interchange
SR 8/I-77 southbound at the Central Interchange will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. The detour is I-76 westbound to I-76/Kenmore Leg, to I-277 eastbound, to I-77.
Ramp from SR 8 southbound to I-76 eastbound
From 10 p.m. Sunday to Monday at 5 a.m., the ramp from SR 8 southbound to I-76 eastbound will be closed. The detour will be I-76 westbound to Main Street, to I-76 eastbound.
New traffic pattern on I-77/SR 8 southbound between Johnston Street and Carroll Street
I-77/SR 8 southbound will see a new traffic pattern between Johnston Street and Carroll Street beginning Tuesday at 5 a.m. Here's what ODOT says:
- Southbound motorists will be split into two separate lanes
- The left lane will be crossed over onto the northbound direction while the right lane will remain on the southbound side
- Motorists wishing to exit at I-76 eastbound and westbound will need to remain in the right lane.
SR 8/I-77 northbound at Central Interchange
This stretch will be closed nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday, April 16 through Thursday morning, April 18. The planned detour is I-76 westbound to Main Street I-76 eastbound, to SR 8 northbound.
Lakeshore Boulevard under I-76
A concrete bridge deck pour will prompt a relatively brief closure at Lakeshore Boulevard under I-76. The section will be closed from 5 a.m. through 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17.
The northbound detour will be South Street, to Princeton Street, to Russell Street to Lakeshore Boulevard. The southbound detour will be Russell Street to SR 93/Manchester Road, to South Street to Lakeshore Boulevard
SR 59 in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Silver Lake
ODOT says State Route 59 between SR 8 and the Portage County line will have "various lane restrictions." The resurfacing project is expected to be completed in late August.
