COPLEY, Ohio — Big traffic changes are coming next week for drivers in Copley Township as crews work on a bridge replacement project along I-77 and state Route 21.
While there are some lane restrictions already in place, the Ohio Department of Transportation says new closures will begin starting Monday, June 26. These closures include:
- The ramp from Route 18 eastbound to I-77 South near "restaurant hill" will be closed through late July 2024.
- The ramp from I-77 North to Route 21 South will be closed through late January 2024. ODOT says the suggested detour is I-77 North to Route 18 to Route 21 South.
Here’s a list of restrictions currently in place due to the bridge replacement project:
- I-77 North at the ramp to SR 21 South is reduced to two lanes.
- I-77 has various nightly lane restrictions between Cleveland Massillon Road to Ghent Road.
- Route 21 between Copley Road and Route 18 has various lane restrictions for drainage repairs through early July.
This bridge replacement was one of the many projects ODOT announced earlier this year.
A few miles north near the Summit County / Cuyahoga County line, crews continue working to widen I-77 between the Ohio Turnpike and Route 21. New ramps from I-77 North to Miller and from Miller to I-77 South are also being added. This project is expected to be complete by November 2024.
