AKRON, Ohio — Drivers in Akron were facing traffic delays in the area of the Central Interchange on Friday morning as the Ohio Department of Transportation says Route 8 was closed in both directions for "repairs/maintenance."
Justin Chesnic of ODOT tells 3News the northbound lanes reopened around 7:55 a.m. with the southbound lanes reopening around 9 a.m.
"We are erecting the new pedestrian bridge on I-77 just south of the Central Interchange," Justin Chesnic of ODOT tells 3News in an e-mail. "We were scheduled to be completed by 6 a.m., but crews were having a hard time getting all the connecting bolts to align."
