AKRON, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation says that all lanes of I-76 East have re-opened after being closed near Route 8 due to a crash in Akron.
According to the Akron Police Department, the crash involved two vehicles, one of which "may have been operating recklessly, contributing to the crash." Police add that one of the two vehicles caught fire, with two people taken to an area hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries."
Police were called to the scene at 10:53 a.m. and the scene was cleared at 1:50 p.m. ODOT traffic cameras in the area of the Central Interchange showed delays along Route 8 North/South and I-76 East/West.
