HURON, Ohio — A 74-year-old Huron woman has died following a three-vehicle crash, which happened Friday afternoon in the westbound lanes of Route 2 near mile post 19 in Huron Township.
It was around 12:04 p.m. when authorities say a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer struck the back end of a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The collision then pushed the Traverse into the rear of a trailer attached to a 2021 Ford F350.
The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the Traverse and the Ford F350 were both in the right-hand lane “behind a slow-moving vehicle” when the crash took place.
The driver of the Traverse, identified as Virginia Doyle, died as a result of the crash.
Authorities say the other drivers were not hurt and “able to drive their vehicles from the scene.” The Ford driver was identified as a 45-year-old man from Willowick, while the tractor-trailer driver was identified as a 51-year-old man of Hudsonville, Michigan.
The Highway Patrol says neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
