WAYNE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — A two vehicle crash is currently being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on April 30 at the intersection of State Route 57 (Wadsworth Road) and County Road 27 (Fulton Road) in Chippewa Township.

A white 2000 Isuzu NPR cabover truck was being driven by Wesley R. Weirick 44, of Rittman, Ohio and a black 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Scott E. Kemp 50, of Massillon, Ohio.

According to initial investigations by the Highway Patrol, Weirick was traveling south on S.R. 57 and attempting to turn left onto C.R. 27. Kemp was travelling north on S.R. 57 and struck the cabover truck when the truck failed to yield while making a left turn.

Kemp was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroners Office and medical examiners. It does not appear he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash according to the Highway Patrol.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
