AKRON, Ohio — After a recent surge in gas prices across Northeast Ohio, drivers are getting some slight relief.
GasBuddy says gas prices have dropped 12.3 cents in Akron within the last week, bringing the city’s new average to $3.52 per gallon.
Cleveland saw a smaller dip with gas prices falling 4 cents as the average stands at $3.59 per gallon. For some added context, this means gas prices in Cleveland are now 30.5 cents higher than a month ago, but 5.3 cents cheaper than a year ago.

The national average, however, remains unchanged from last week at $3.82 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.
"With California facing a deluge of water from Tropical Storm Hilary, some level of refinery problems that could impact gasoline prices could arise, and with eyes on a more active Atlantic, the next few weeks will bring additional volatility to what motorists can expect at the pump,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
