AAA: Ohio gas prices jump during the past week

Demand for gas is picking up nationwide.

CLEVELAND — The average price for gasoline across Northeast Ohio has risen by 15 cents over last week and now stands at $2.215 per gallon.

Eight Great Lakes and central state averages pushed more expensive by double-digits on the week.

Nebraska, Kansas, and Wisconsin had the largest increases in the region and  land  among the top 10 states with the biggest weekly jump.

Nebraska increased by 12 cents and Kansas and Nebraska went up by 11 cents.

Indians and Illinois saw the smallest weekly increases in the region.

State averages in the region range from $1.84 to $2.30 a gallon with Ohio at $2.07.

Prices increased despite the fact that regional gasoline stocks and refinery utilization both held steady.

Typically, large increases at the pump coincide with a large decrease in stocks.

What usually happens is that states that see a high jump in gas prices this week will see a smaller increase next week.

This week's average gas price in Northeast Ohio is $2.215 a gallon.

The highest gas price in our area was seen in Aurora at $ 2.30 a gallon with the least expensive listed in $2.108 in Ashland.
