GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Icy conditions caused several crashes on I-480 at the Valley View Bridge on Tuesday, impacting traffic in both directions.
2:25 p.m. update: All express and local lanes of I-480 in both directions have been reopened.
2 p.m. update: The left two lanes of I-480 West are still closed at Transportation Blvd. Also, all westbound express lanes on the Valley View Bridge are closed.
The eastbound express lanes have reopened.
1 p.m. update: As of just after 1 p.m., ODOT reports that only the left two lanes of I-480 West are closed at Transportation Blvd. However, there is a new issue in the area as the eastbound express lanes of I-480 East are closed beyond Brecksville Road due to a crash.
Previously: We have a big traffic alert for drivers as the Ohio Department of Transportation says I-480 West is closed at Transportation Boulevard due to a crash in Garfield Heights.
An ODOT traffic camera shows all lanes in the area are blocked as of 12:05 p.m. and drivers are being detoured off the interstate. Drivers need to avoid the area until further notice.
No details of the crash were immediately available, but stay with 3News as we will update this story once the roadway reopens.
This latest crash comes after Northeast Ohio drivers experienced slow traffic conditions throughout the morning hours due to snowy, icy conditions.
