Kyerick S. Claybon, of Lincoln Park, Michigan suffered severe injuries in the single-car crash.

MONROEVILLE, Ohio — A single-vehicle crash on U.S. 20 early Wednesday morning left one female seriously injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is currently investigating the accident that took place around 12:30 a.m. on U.S. 20, just east of State Route 99 in Monroeville Village.

A 34-year-old female, Kyerick S. Claybon, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, suffered severe injuries after failing to negotiate a curve in the roadway while traveling eastbound on U.S. 20.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Claybon traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a raised median, a telephone pole and a parked dump truck before the car overturned.

At the time of the accident, Claybon was wearing her seatbelt, but she still suffered serious injuries and was immediately life-flighted to Toledo St. Vincent Medical Center.

Claybon was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means.

The crash remains under investigation, but speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is unsure if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

In response to the crash, the Huron County Sheriff's Office, Huron River Joint Fire

Department, Monroeville Police Department, North Central EMS, and Interstate Towing assisted at the scene.
