UPDATE | Man killed in Barberton train vs. car crash identified

It happened at a railroad crossing on West Waterloo Road near Wooster Road North.

BARBERTON, Ohio -- The Summit County Medical Examiner has identified the man killed in a collision between a train and car Thursday morning.

Anthony A. Nichols, 51, of Canton, was killed when his SUV was struck by a train.

It happened at a railroad crossing on West Waterloo Road near Wooster Road North.

Officials say the SUV was traveling westbound on Waterloo Road when it traveled around other vehicles and the railroad crossing gates before it was struck by the train.

Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:46 a.m.

Crews closed Waterloo Road down at the site of the crash.
