VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — Heads up!
Big changes have begun for drivers who use the I-480 Valley View Bridge. That's because the new 4,150-foot center section of the Valley View Bridge opened on Sunday afternoon.
Drivers on I-480 West are now able to use the center bridge as an express lane to pass the I-77 interchange. Drivers who wish to stay on I-480 can use the newly open lanes on the center of the bridge or continue on the westbound bridge as normal.
"Those needing to exit at I-77 should stay on the westbound bridge and use the right lanes," according to ODOT officials.
The project, which is expected to be complete by June 2024, will construct a new bridge between the two existing Valley View bridges and replace the decks of the I-480 east and westbound Valley View bridges in Garfield Heights and Independence.
