CLEVELAND — It appears that Sun Country Airlines' stay at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport may be over as quickly as it started.
On Monday, the airline confirmed to 3News in an email that its seasonal route from Hopkins to Minneapolis-St. Paul will be paused for 2025 after finishing for the year in September.
Sun Country says the route "may be back in 2026."
Sun County Airlines launched its new route from CLE to MSP on May 17, operating four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday through Labor Day weekend. Fares started as low as $19 one way.
"Like every airline, we continuously evaluate performance of routes, customer demand, and capacity in the market and adjust our network accordingly. In 2025, we will serve approximately 100 destinations," Sun Country stated in its email.
According to Susan Glaser of 3News partner Cleveland.com, Sun Country Airlines is also discontinuing service from Minneapolis to several other cities, including Asheville, North Carolina, Billings, Montana and Omaha, Nebraska.
Glaser points out that Frontier Airlines has also put its Cleveland-to-Minneapolis flight on hiatus, pausing service last month. If you need to get to the Twin Cities, Delta continues to offer three-times-daily service between Hopkins and MSP.
