United jet going through deep cleaning after more than two dozen Houston-bound passengers arrived sick

According to United Airlines, the ill passengers were on the same cruise together.

HOUSTON — United Airlines says one of its jets is receiving a deep cleaning before it's put back into service.

That's after United Flight 1528 arrived in Houston with more than two dozen sick passengers on board. That flight arrived from Vancouver, Canada, Friday evening. According to reports, the sick passengers had all been on the same cruise ship and arrived here feeling nauseous.

Three passengers were evacuated from the plane by the Houston Fire Department, but none of the 25 sick passengers went to the emergency room for treatment.

United Airlines sent KHOU 11 a statement surrounding the event. It reads:

"Several passengers who had been on the same cruise and did not feel well were on United Flight 1528 from Vancouver to Houston tonight (Friday night). United Airlines is actively coordinating with health authorities to address the situation. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft will be removed from service and go through a deep cleaning before returning to service. Ensuring the health and safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority."
