CLEVELAND — We’re expecting hot and humid conditions across Northeast Ohio today with highs well into the 80s -- and the National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Advisory in the following counties that will remain in effect for the entire day:
- Cuyahoga
- Geauga
- Lake
- Lorain
- Medina
- Portage
- Summit
The advisory is set to expire at midnight.
So what does this mean for you?
“Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period,” according to the advisory as issued by the National Weather Service in Cleveland. “If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov.”
3News’ Senior Meteorologist Matt Wintz says we’re expecting the heat and humidity into the evening hours as well.
“It’s going to be a muggy night tonight,” Wintz says. “AC on for sure. We’re only going to fall back down near 70 for a low.”
To help the region reduce air pollution amid the Air Quality Advisory, the National Weather Service suggests the following:
- Drive less
- Bike
- Walk
- Use transit
- Work from home
- Combine trips
- Don’t idle: Turn off your engine
- Refill your gas tank after sunset
- Wait to mow the lawn
