CLEVELAND — With temperatures topping 80 degrees throughout Northeast Ohio, the National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for multiple counties through Saturday, April 15 with “unhealthy” conditions for sensitive groups.
The impacted counties include:
- Ashtabula
- Cuyahoga
- Geauga
- Lake
- Lorain
- Medina
- Portage
- Summit
So what does an Air Quality Alert mean for you?
“Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period,” according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland. “If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov.”
Other tips during an Air Quality Alert include:
- Don’t idle: Turn off your engine
- Refill your gas tank after sunset
- Wait to mow the lawn
Today’s weather conditions feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs around 80 degrees. We stay dry for most of the day tomorrow with rain chances moving in later.
“By the time we get into the evening, we’re starting to see some scattered showers show up – but scattered," 3News meteorologist Hollie Strano says. "It’s certainly not a washout at that point, so that’s why a lot of your Saturday is really going to be a good one to get out, take advantage and do things that are outdoors.”
