A severe thunderstorm with 60 MPH winds and hail was reported just east of Sandusky, Ohio around 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
The storm caused several power lines to fall along the Cedar Point Causeway. The road was closed Sunday night as crews worked to repair the damage.
Nobody was injured, according to officials.
Tony Clark, the park's director of communications, released a statement Sunday:
"As a result of the severe wind damage to power lines and poles on the Cedar Point Causeway, and the lack of adequate power to operate rides at full capacity, Cedar Point and Soak City will not open on Monday, June 6. Crews from Ohio Edison are working diligently to repair Causeway power lines as quickly as possible. We anticipate we will reopen on Tuesday, June 7."
Cedar Point closed early at 7 p.m. on Sunday due to the partial power outage.
