DAYTON -- The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Trotwood, just north of Dayton, around 11 p.m. Monday evening.

As of 11:45 p.m. the NWS has much of Miami Valley under either a tornado watch or warning.

The NWS in Wilmington declared a Tornado Emergency, to include Kettering, Beavercreek and Huber Heights Ohio as the storm continued to move southeast. Additional storms spurred tornado warnings extended north and south of Columbus as severe weather moved through late night.

Social media reports indicate the damage is extensive along I-75, with the NWS confirming debris was being lofted into the air. There are unconfirmed reports of destroyed homes and possible injuries.

Our sister station, NBC affiliate WDTN, has created a timeline of the various reports and warnings.
