What Northeast Ohio can expect for weather during August

The final month of meteorological summer has arrived, here's what you can expect in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — The summer season is just zipping by. 

The final month of meteorological summer has arrived and here's what you can expect in Cleveland.

Climatologically speaking, the hottest parts of the summer heat should be behind us. The average high temperature in June is 80 degrees, and in July, it is 84 degrees.

On average, afternoon highs are typically around 82 in August. However, the month of August can still include dangerous heat and humidity. 

As of July 31, Cleveland has recorded 10 days of 90-degree heat this year. Interestingly enough, Cleveland averages 8.9 days of 90-degree heat. 

The Climate Prediction Center suggests slightly above-average temperatures for the month and slightly above-average rainfall. We need more rain to make up the deficit. As of July 31, we are behind over 4.5” and 2.27” for the summer season. 

Cleveland averages 3.56” for August, making it the sixth wettest month typically.
