CLEVELAND — Have you looked outside yet? Wow! It's foggy with visibility reduced to less than a quarter of a mile in spots.
“We’re expecting the fog to really be a big impact on the morning drive," said 3News meteorologist Hollie Strano. "We’ll get to some sun today. It’s not going to be a blue sky, sunny day by any stretch. We also should mention with the fog, remember, this is just a cloud on the ground and it comes with those tiny, little water droplets. So we could have some pockets of drizzle or light rain to go along with the fog this morning.”
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Dense Fog Advisory throughout multiple counties in Northeast Ohio. The advisory, which was supposed to expire at 8 a.m., has now been extended until 10 a.m. for the following counties:
- Ashland
- Ashtabula
- Cuyahoga
- Erie
- Geauga
- Holmes
- Huron
- Lake
- Lorain
- Medina
- Portage
- Richland
- Sandusky
- Seneca
- Stark
- Summit
- Trumbull
- Wayne
To give you some sense of how thick the fog really is, take a look at this picture below. It was captured on our CSU skycam of downtown Cleveland's skyline shortly before 5 a.m. You can barely make out the city's lights in the image. Yes, the Terminal Tower is somewhere back there.
We also streamed live video of the skycam's fog around 6 a.m., which you can watch below:
The fog advisories stretch outside of Ohio's borders, too, well into Indiana.
If you have to drive in the fog early this morning remember to slow down, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you and turn off your high beams.
