CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for east central Cuyahoga County until 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Medina County until 1:15 a.m., and northern Ashland County, southern Huron County, and northern Richland County until 1:45 a.m.
At 7:41 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
It's been a very rainy day throughout Northeast Ohio, which is why the National Weather Service in Cleveland issued a Flash Flood Watch for multiple counties from 8 a.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday.
“We’re looking at a very busy weather day because of rain,” says 3News’ morning meteorologist Hollie Strano.
The National Weather Service says the Flash Flood Watch is the result of “repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms with torrential rainfall” expected along a “nearly-stationary front.”
“We’re expecting anywhere from 1-3 inches of rain,” Strano says. “So, that’s pretty impressive.”
