CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Erie County and northwestern Lorain County until 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

At 2:38 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain has fallen.

Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warning area. We may see flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Lorain, Elyria, Vermilion, Western Vermilion, Amherst, South Amherst and Berlin Heights.

In addition, there is a Flood Advisory in effect for Erie County, northwestern Huron County and parts of Sandusky and Seneca counties until 7:30 p.m. this evening.

At 3:26 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Meanwhile, an earlier Flood Advisory for portions of Cuyahoga and Lorain counties until 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday has been canceled.

The areas under the advisory were northern Lorain County and west central Cuyahoga County.

The 3News weather team is calling for muggy heat to continue with scattered, pop-up storm chances. The humidity is here to stay, too, for the rest of the work week thanks to a direct flow out of the Gulf of Mexico.

FORECAST | Tropical conditions continue with pop-up storm chances throughout Northeast Ohio
