High winds could gust to 60 mph across northeast Ohio tonight

A high wind warning has been issued for the lakeshore communities of northern Ohio through Friday at noon.

CLEVELAND — A strong cold front will produce high winds across all of northern Ohio tonight with the highest gusts expected right along the Lake Erie shoreline.

The National Weather Service says winds of 30 to 40 mph will be common for everyone in the 3News viewing between now and noon at Friday.

However, some areas could see wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect for counties away from Lake Erie.

Power lines and trees could come down and widespread power outages are possible. Travel will become difficult, especially for those driving large vehicles with high wind profiles.

Temperatures will also be falling across the area this evening with a rain/snow mix to light snow change over later tonight.
