CLEVELAND — A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for multiple counties in Northeast Ohio as accumulating snow is expected this weekend.
The Lake Effect Snow Warning will be in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties:
- Ashtabula
- Cuyahoga
- Geauga
- Lake
3News' Payton Domschke urges anyone with early Thanksgiving travel or plans on Sunday to plan ahead, as roads will be difficult to travel on.
"Travel starting late tonight and through tomorrow is not going to be ideal for I-90 through the snowbelt again (even near the Cleveland metro area)," said Domschke. "If you work weekends or have loved ones coming in early for the holiday week, please make sure you're communicating this message to them as well."
"Travel could be very difficult," according to the National Weather Service. "Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility."
A Winter Weather Advisory has also been issued for Trumbull County. The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Areas of the primary and secondary snowbelt in Northeast Ohio are expected to be affected the most during this snowstorm.
The counties under a Lake Effect Snow Warning could potentially see snow accumulations of six to 12 inches.

This weekend's snowstorm comes just days after areas of Ashtabula County had heavy lake-effect snow, with some areas seeing over a foot of accumulation.
Outside of Northeast Ohio, Buffalo, New York, is experiencing a major snowstorm that has already dumped several feet this weekend.
The snowstorm in Buffalo caused the NFL to move the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills game from New York to Detroit, Michigan.
