ASHLAND, Ohio — Sheriff E. Wayne Risner has declared a Level 1 snow emergency for the citizens of Ashland County, effective immediately.

The county and surrounding areas were hit with a burst of heavy snow roughly an hour ago. 3News meteorologist Matt Wintz says all residents across Northeast Ohio should only expect about 1-2 inches, but the danger will be from it coming down so heavy and so quickly.

According to the State of Ohio, a Level 1 emergency is described as follows: "Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously."
