Local outdoor workers preparing to deal with the Arctic plunge

Should they be outside during this deep freeze? It depends on who you ask.

CLEVELAND — Clevelanders – We are staring at high temperatures around zero over the next 24 hours.

“It’s still too hot for me,” Germaine Jordan told Channel 3 Tuesday with zero irony or humor in his voice.

The man helping work on a broken water main in Middleburg Heights today dislikes the heat of summer and revels in the cold of winter.

“I like the peace and quiet this time of year. Only the strongest can be out here in it – I like being in that club.”

Marvin Sanders works outside in Cleveland – he says motion is more important than layering.

“The trick is to keep moving. I have a couple layers on, but the hardest thing to keep warm are my fingers,” he said.

For many of these outside workers, they're holding on to hope that the 51 degree high temperatures forecast for Monday holds.

Even if its half of that -- they'll be ecstatic.
