Look up Thursday night, you might be able to see the Northern Lights

The National Weather Service says a geomagnetic storm may make it possible to see the Northern Lights in the area Dec. 10.

There may be some extra special holiday lights in the Great Lakes region this Thursday night.

The National Weather Service reports that the Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch for Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 11. This means that a strong solar storm is heading our way and will potentially illuminate the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in our region.

According to the Space Weather Prediction Center, the Aurora Borealis will potentially be visible across many states that are typically out of range, including parts of Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and more.

Thursday night is shaping up to be relatively clear, so keep your eyes to the sky in Northeast Ohio for nature's holiday light show.
