CLEVELAND — Severe weather is making its way toward Northeast Ohio.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Ashland, Holmes, Mahoning, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties until 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Erie, Huron, and Richland counties until 9 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and early evening. Damaging wind gusts and damaging hail are the main threats, but a tornado or two is possible. The greatest severe storm risk exists along and west of I-77.

“As we get into this evening, we see more numerous storm potential – and we can’t rule out a strong to severe storm even here in Northeast Ohio," says 3News meteorologist Hollie Strano.
It's going to be very windy throughout Northeast Ohio as well with Strano saying to expect sustained winds of 20-30 mph. Gusts will be even stronger.
Temperatures will stay on the mild side as highs reach the mid 60s once again. By afternoon, a warm front will surge into the area with peeks of sunshine mixed with a scattered downpours. With warmer air and a bit more humidity, this will be the fuel for storm development as that area of low pressure edges closer from the west. Storms will develop as we go throughout the afternoon and any of these storm will be capable of becoming severe. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, but we can't rule out isolated tornadoes.
