CLEVELAND — The city of Cleveland is preparing for the latest winter storm that's expected to bring the most significant snowfall of the season.
Public Works Director Frank Williams told 3News there will be 50-60 snowplows operating when the snow begins to fall.
"It may not look pretty all the time, but we will be coming and we will be working to keep everyone as safe as possible," Williams said.
There are approximately 3,000 miles of roadway within the city that will need to be plowed.
"It doesn't look like there's going to be a lot of opportunity for pre-treatment," Williams admitted.
Meanwhile, ODOT Northeast Ohio Public Information Officer Amanda McFarland told us there is still a lot of salt on the interstates from previous treatment.
"You may see some pre-treating on, like, the ramps, bridges, and overpasses," McFarland said. "But overall, you won't see us doing very much pre-treating."
Although Williams doesn't plan to pre-treat Cleveland's roads, he says crews will be ready to go to keep residents safe.
"We're always preparing for the worst," he declared.
As ODOT prepares, they also have to make repairs to their plow that was hit Wednesday. McFarland states it was their eighth plow that's been hit this season.
"They are going to be traveling well below the posted speed limit," she said. "They're going to be also driving for the conditions and that's what we need drivers to do."
