CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The tree-lined streets of Cleveland Heights are a beautiful sight, even after last week's storm.

The microburst rolled through, snapping trees and breaking limbs in this tree city. Crews from the Cleveland Heights Forestry Division are working to trim and remove broken branches from tree lawns. The forestry division website has good information about tree management in the frequently asked questions section, detailing who is responsible.

Basically, tree lawns and public property are the city's responsibility. Private property is the owner's responsibility. If power lines are involved, call the illuminating company.

Storms can leave trees damaged with broken limbs, cracked trunks, and damaged roots. Experts say homeowners should inspect their trees closely before the next storm hits.

One more thing: If you suspect a problem, contact a professional to deal with it. They don't call partially broken limbs and dead branches "widow-makers" for nothing.
