CLEVELAND — Tired of the bad weather yet, Northeast Ohio?
Well, we're sorry to report we're not done just yet... not by a long shot.
The 3News weather team has detected a system that looks to bring a "high-impact" winter storm this week. Thankfully, we have at least a couple of days to prepare for it, but the event will potentially bring significant amounts of rain and ice and snow to the region.
While we'll have some rain on Tuesday, the big stuff really starts Wednesday evening when a temperature drop gives us a rain and snow mix with some ice. The worst of it will hit Thursday, with heavy snow everywhere and some potentially dangerous ice further south.
Just how much will we get? It's still a little too early to know for sure. However, the ice alone could cause major problems not just here in Ohio, but across the country. Residents are urged to have a plan in place as soon as possible.
This could also be a major test for new Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, who announced improvements to the city's plowing system following several missteps during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day snowstorm. While some elements have already been implemented like a new plow tracker, others like an increased fleet have still not been approved.
Our team will have updates throughout the next few days on WKYC.com and 3News.
