ELMORE, Ohio — Meteorologists with the National Weather Service confirmed Friday afternoon that three EF-1 tornadoes touched down in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan Thursday night.
Two of those tornadoes were in Monroe County, one with a top wind speed of 105 mph and the other with a top wind speed of 100 mph.
According to a public information statement from NWS, the 100 mph EF-1 tornado touched down at 10:38 p.m. in an Ash Township farm field north of Newport Road.
The tornado then moved southeast and hit the Frenchtown Villa Mobile Home Park. The bulk of the damage was on the north end of the park, where roofs were torn off and a mobile home was flipped over. There were no fatalities at the park, but a major gas leak forced the evacuation of at least 80 homes.
The tornado then continued southeast knocking several large tree limbs down. The tornado eventually dissipated at 10:43 p.m. in a farm field in Frenchtown Township in Monroe County.
According to NWS, another EF-1 tornado touched down near S. Nissen Road and W. Deno Road in Ottawa County at approximately 11:08 p.m. NWS crews observed several tree limbs broken off in this location.
The tornado then continued southeast, where it damaged a nursery greenhouse, before crossing the Portage River. Several trees were blown down and tree limbs were scattered onto nearby homes, NWS officials said.
The tornado continued tracking southeast, where it uprooted three large trees onto home and damaged the roof. It also caused damage to home siding and snapped power lines along County Road 92.
The tornado traveled approximately 4.29 miles with a 100 yard width before dissipating at 11:15 p.m. in Sandusky County near the Village of Lindsey.
Another EF-1 tornado with wind speeds of over 90 mph was also confirmed in northeast Erie County's Vermilion Township.
The tornadoes are part of overnight storms that caused flooding and damage across the region. NWS Cleveland confirmed another EF-1 tornado in Cuyahoga County, while NWS Grand Rapids confirmed an EF-1 in Kent County, Michigan. Additional tornado confirmations are possible while crews continue to assess damage.

Thursday night's storms occurred just a day after torrential downpours brought as much as eight inches of rain to the Lake Erie islands and shore communities, causing significant flooding.
Several tornadoes struck northwest Ohio earlier this summer when a June 15 storm brought 12 confirmed tornadoes to the region, damaging places like Oak Harbor and Point Place.
