NANKIN, Ohio — The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-2 tornado touched down in Huron County, along with an EF-0 in Ashland County, during Thursday night's severe storms.
On Saturday, more details regarding the tornadoes in Huron County were released.
According to the National Weather Service, they believe that three tornadoes happened in Huron County on June 15, bringing the area total to eight.
The NWS reports that an EF-1 tornado touched down in North Fairfield with winds reaching 110 miles per hour. Another EF-1 tornado is reported to have touched down in Greenwich, with winds reaching 105 miles per hour.
Previously, a preliminary report from Iowa State University, said that the EF-2 had estimated maximum wind speeds of 115 miles per hour from northern Peru Township to northwest of Greenwich.
Winds in an EF-2 tornado are between 111 and 135 miles per hour.
The NWS reports that the Ashland County tornado touched down between County Road 801 and State Route 58, northeast of Nankin, at approximately 8:47 p.m. Several trees were uprooted with branches snapping as a result of the high winds, which reached a maximum speed of 85 miles per hour.
Winds in an EF-0 tornado are between 65 and 85 miles per hour.
The tornado tracked southeast towards Township Road 713 where one residence had damage to a roof, chicken coop, and a barn that lost a portion of the roof. Also near Township Road 713 and Route 302, an outbuilding suffered damage with both a garage door and walls pushed out with insulation lofted into a field.
No injuries were reported as a result of the Ashland County tornado.
The National Weather Service's Cleveland office also confirmed a pair of EF-2 tornadoes touched down in Lucas County and Ottawa County on Thursday.
